I think that I may have found a bug in the mxHierarchicalLayout layout.

I'm trying to apply it to a particular graph with 3 vertices v1, v2 and v3, with the following edges: v1 -> v2; v2 -> v1; v2 -> v3 and v3 -> v2. When I apply the layout, nothing happens.

I already tried to apply this layout using the Editor example that comes with jgraphx, but without success.

Sorry, I think this was fixed some time ago. It works currently in Java and JavaScript, so I'm closing.
