If a cell has "child" cells, can the parent cell be configured to change its size dynamically according to the number of child cells? The size of a child cell is constant. Between the child cells there can be also edges, so the parent has to "know" how to re-size itself for all child cells and edges can be visible as possible. The number of child cells is not known in advance.
