I don't think it is necessary for my application and I am using a DelayQueue within my user object, which cannot be serialized. I still want users to be able to move nodes though.

Try mxGraphComponent.setDragEnabled(false) (this will disable native DnD but still allow moving).

That works perfectly, thanks. I had assumed that that would disable all movement...
